Housing Scheme.

I agree generally with your proposals and approve your proposal for the setting aside of $15 million of the Development Fund for financing housing.

I approve the grant of £13,500 from Colonial Development and Welfare Fund to cover the cost of site formation for the pilot scheme (Scheme No. D.1602), and also the loan to the Hong Kong Housing Society of approximately $2,000,000 to meet the cost of the erection of the flats.

I agree in principle to Colonial Development and Welfare assistance to meet the cost of developing sites, providing road access and water and drainage connectiona for approximately 2,500 small flats,

Two copies of the Colonial Development and Welfare Memorandum are enclosed.
